[TIP] RC controller receiver binding

Radio controller for RC is also important part (and expensive).

Few days ago ,  my RC controller range become very short, about 10 meter
(It was almost 100 meters or over)

By web searching , I found out it's my receiver problem.
So I changed only receiver with same manufacturer and do binding, and it works good.


(For FLYSKY product radio controller)

To do binding , binding pack is needed.

I don't have (or maybe I lost) it,  so I made it. 

It's simple. With any line terminal with same size (3-line) jack (just like servo line extension) , connect the left and the right line.  

1. Power off the controller / receiver 

2. Connect binding pack to receiver 3CH (maybe different for other model)

3. Power on the receiver

4. Power on the controller with "BIND" button pressed

5. Power off the controller / receiver , and pull out the binding pack 

6. Power on and test

[Tip] RC ESC / Motor

ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) and motor are the most important parts of RC.

(And it's expensive)

As for beginner , we should check it's brushed / brushless.

Brushed motor : shaft is coil and it has brush for electric supply. Magnet is around the coil
Brushless motor : shaft is magnet and coil is around the magnet

Brushed motor for offroad and rock crawling.
Brushless motor for high speed.

I don't know more detail :)
First, I used brushless , and I'm using brushed for now but I can't feel the difference.

But important for beginner :

Brushed motor is 2 lines
Brushless motor is 3 lines

and ESC setting :

1) power on radio controller
2) power on ESC with setting button pressed - it will beep continuously
3) Stop state (do not touch controller) - press setting button - beep 1 time
4) Forward state (pull the trigger) - press setting button - beep 2 times
5) Backward state (push the trigger) - press setting button - beep 3times
6) power off all and power on again - complete

As for beginner , selecting battery was difficult.


● NiMH battery - (Nickel Metal Hybride Battery)

Just same as normal rechargable battery. (energizer , eneloop) 

Adv : It's safe. Good for beginner 

Disadv : Power is low

Usage : Charge always. 

● Lipo battery (Litium Polymer Battery)

Many RC car users (almost all) uses Lipo battery due to its power and long run time (about 30min~60min longer than NiMH)

Adv and Disadv : High Power and Danger

Specs : (for beginner ; I don't know more :) )

S : unit battery counts ( 1S = 3.7V , 2S = 7.4V , 3S = 11.1V)

C : continuous discharge rate ( High C , High Power )

mah : milliampere-hour ( High mah , long run time )

Usage : 

Full charge and full discharge .

Balance charging is required for multiple S. 

(If not balanced, voltage difference become large, that battery should be disposed )

Storage charging is also required for not using time. (mid charge)

If full charged and not use for long time, it become fat. (disposal)

If full discharged and not use for long time, its capacity decreased or disposed.

etc 

- for balance charge , we should buy alarm checker

- do not touch water 

- do not expose to sunlight

Many things to do, but as for me , becoming fat was the most important issue. (all other things were deserved after all)

RTR set - simple (car , radio controller , adapter , manual)

Left is basic body.

From another RC shopping mall, got more bodies (volkswagen beetle shape)

For battery , buying special charger is also inevitable.

ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) & Motor is the most important part of RC car. (expensive)

Differentail gear is also interesting.

 

Repairing , upgrading and maintaining works to do are too many, but they're joyful.
